First Details on Alexi Tan's DETOUR and Sabu's DANCING MARY!

While the HAF website does not yet include any substantive details about the sterling selection of films for this year's event the first details are starting to emerge on some of them.

First up is Alexi Tan's Detour. A modern day hit-man thriller, this was actually the first film announced for Tan after he hooked up with Terence Chang and John Woo's Lion Rock Entertainment. At the time it was meant to be shot in Thailand and was deep into the pre-production process when things hit a snag and the project was shelved in favor of Tan's Blood Brothers. Plot details are scarce but word is the original script has undergone a significant revision with the action now set in Macau.

Next up, Sabu's Dancing Mary. According to Jason Gray, Japanese film translator and the actor-turned-director's English teacher, this is one of three projecs that Sabu currently has set to shoot outside of Japan though there's no firm word what language this will be in. Again, plot details are scarce but Gray promises that it'll be a good time and classifies it as "tearjerker horror" which means that not only is the talented - and hugely under seen - director breaking new language ground but he's messing with his typical style as well and I, for one, am very curious to see what he's up to.
