Ooooh. This could be very good. Very good indeed.
Michael Angarano [Sky High and Forbidden Kingdom], Sam Rockwell [Hitchhikers Guide and Choke] and Jemaine Clement [Eagle vs. Shark and Flight of the Conchords] have signed to star in "Gentlemen Broncos," a Jared Hess [Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre] comedy.
Hess wrote the script with his wife, Jerusha Hess, which is about a high school outcast [Angarano] who attends a camp for writers and his story gets ripped off by a legendary fantasy novelist [Clement]. Rockwell has the dubious honor of playing the fictional story's title character and will appear in book-come-to-life sequences under two guises: one in the teen's story and one in the author's story. That itself could be very entertaining pending how far Jared and his wife went with their script.
Angarano may need something like this pending the outcome of Forbidden Kingdom, especially round these parts. We're unabashed fans of Rockwell and I am glad to see that Clement has landed himself a role on a stateside production. I was late to the party with Flight of the Conchords but am convinced that he is also an immense comedic talent and a healthy addition to this cast. I just hope that Hess wrote in a musical number for him in the film.
Production is expected to begin in March.
