'Swing Girls' and 'Water Boys' director now boarding the 'Happy Flight'

Every so often I need a simple feel good root for the underdog type of movie. Nothing fancy. Just simple fun and entertainment with the good guys and girls winning in the end. Shinobu Yaguchi's Swing Girls was such a movie. Funny. Charming. Simple. It is a delightful film to watch. I can scarcely believe that he has done nothing since then, until I found this bit of news today...

Director Shinobu Yaguchi is working on his first feature-length film since 2004. Tentatively titled "Happy Flight," the movie will be a comedy set in the airline industry. The story centers on a flight from Japan to Honolulu and deals with a variety of characters, such as a scatterbrained cabin attendant, a scary instructor, and a young mechanic. Yaguchi conducted research for the movie through ANA during the spring of 2006. Filming is set to begin in April, and there is a possibility that some of it may be shot with a real airplane. Yaguchi is aiming for theatrical release in the fall. Auditions for the cast are currently under way.

Well huzzah for that bit of news. Bring on the touchy feely good times!

Um...So he's doing a full length movie of "Good Luck!" ? I'm there. I loved that show.
