PRINCE CASPIAN Arrives ...

by Todd Brown, December 18, 2007 12:07 PM

Yep, we're a bit late on this and my thanks are due to LT for giving me the nudge I need to finally take a look at the trailer for the second Narnia film, Prince Caspian. Really, it's kind of odd that I'm so unenthused for this one. I was a huge fan of these books growing up and followed the progress of the first film very closely but, for some reason, I've just not been all that interested in Caspian and I think that I've just figured out why. I literally read through the Narnia novels so much that I had two complete sets fall apart on me as a child but of the set the two that I picked up the least - and then usually only for completeness' sake because I was anal about such things even then - were Prince Caspian and The Silver Chair, neither of which I've ever much cared for. And, honestly, looking at the trailer I can't say that there's a single moment that I was particularly looking forward to because there are simply no moments that I remember. Not a one. For the record, my favorites in the series - and the ones with bits that must be handled with care, if only to keep me happy - are The Magician's Nephew, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Last Battle.

Anyway .. trailer. Other than the kid playing Caspian delivering his only line in the trailer with a positively brutal accent it looks quite good. Photography is stellar, attention to detail spot on, war time London is as impressive as the creature effects and there are definitely creatures o'plenty. Still ... I'll save my excitement for Dawn Treader, which is next in line to hit the screen.
