Get Your First Look at Rorschach In WATCHMEN!

by Todd Brown, December 8, 2007 2:58 PM

It's been a long and winding road that The Watchmen has taken to finally make it to the big screen but one of the most revered graphic novels ever written is just about there, finally, and the first quartet of stills from the picture have just been released. They don't show much, being made up mostly of sets and street scenes - which you would expect this far out from release - but there is one nice little treat in there. Yep, everybody's favorite masked sociopath, Rorschach, is in one of them. He's in the distance and shot from the side so you don't get a clear look, but it's definitely him. Hit the gallery below to check them out!

oooh, tales of the black freighter! i still have mixed feelings about this being made into a movie. you would think that with all of alan moore's previous book to film projects being so horrid that moore himself removes his name from the film that hollywood and dc would not pursue producing them anymore.

these screenshots definitely look the part (maybe a little too bright) but i'm worried about the characters. that one shot of rorschach just looks odd. he looks too big and muscular and his hat seems too small. he's supposed to be thin...right? anyway, it looks hoaky as hell. i can only imagine everyone else. dr.manhattan and ozymandias are going to be the real deciding factors i think for characters. i just think too much time has passed and this story's time period is really outdated for today's audience. plus there's a huge amount of information and detail in this book...there is no way possible that it will and can be incorporated into a 2 to 3 hour film.

monetarily, i think this film will do well just because of it's huge fan base and the curious who know nothing about it. but other than that i don't expect it to last very long. i'm expecting riots in the streets when the thousands of watchmen fans decide that the movie doesn't live up to the book.
