For some reason or other the live action adaptations of the popular Asterix children's books have proven to be hugely popular basically everywhere in the world other than North America, a trend not likely to change with the impending release of the third installment. I don't get it, really ... the books are huge everywhere and the films are very made and loaded with star power recognizable even here and yet they are just consistently met with a yawn. Oh, well. Personally I didn't like the 1st movie. I found the storyline strayed too much everywhere. It was like reading 5 condensed books into a single movie.
The 2nd one though I found it was much, MUCH better. I loved it. Comedy was great and the Egyptian Asian action scenes was hilarious.
Hopefully the 3rd one will be top even the 2nd movie.
I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I saw Schumi and Todt participated in the race. :P
Does look pretty fun (although the trailer was a little over editted) - Cacofonix included. But is it just me or is that a different Asterix than the last one?
