It's new release announcement time in Hong Kong and there are a flurry of interesting new titles coming down the line. No, no firm release set yet for Lust, Caution or Triangle though both should arrive before the end of the year. What is coming is Jiang Wen's The Sun Also Rises, which Mack reviewed back when it played at the Toronto International Film Festival, Andy Lau-starring gangster picture Brothers and the next wave of Shaw Brothers re-releases: The Supreme Swordsman, The Imperial Swordsman, Kid From Kwangtung and River of Tears.
I've been a fan of Jiang Wen's films since initially viewing his DEVILS ON THE DOORSTEP (2000) and subsequently obtaining a copy of his first foray into directing with IN THE HEAT OF THE SUN (1994). Now with the release of his newest film THE SUN ALSO RISES just before the holiday's makes me very happy indeed. Here's hoping it's not another seven year interim till we see him in the director's chair again!!!
