TEETH? Pshaw. Mexico's COSITA LINDA Has More Bite ...

by Todd Brown, November 19, 2007 3:17 AM

My thanks to underground film maker Aaron Soto for pointing this one out to me, though many may feel otherwise ...

With all the buzz around Mitchell Lichtenstein‘s Teeth it would be easy to forgive people for thinking that Lichtenstein was the first to play the vagina dentata card, or that the phenomenon was something he had created specifically for his film. It seems so fantastical, after all, and such a potent image for sexual angst that it has to be a fictional creation, right? Well, no. It's based on a recognized - albeit very rare - medical phenomenon and there have been a good number of similarly themed films made around the world though, obviously, they're not big crowd pleasers anywhere.

Anyway. On to the point. Soto has directed our attention to what he believes to be the first ever Latin American vagina dentata film. Titled Cosita Linda the film has apparently been barred from playing festivals in its native Mexico and the trailer is certainly graphic enough to understand why some may be squeamish despite the obvious sense of humor in the thing. Compelling? Yes. Uncomfortable? Hell, yeah.
