Norwegian director Roar Uthaug caused quite the local sensation with his slasher picture Cold Prey (or Fritt Vilt in Norwegian), racking up major box office and awards at home and selling well all around the world. And while it may have taken a long time for Norway to jump on board the slasher train now that they're there it hasn't taken them much time at all to learn one very important lesson: people want sequels. Uthaug just dropped a note to let us know that the sequel has got the green light. While he's not directing this one himself - that task falls to Mats Stenberg, who makes his feature debut - Uthaug has been involved in the writing process and will be involved on the production and marketing end as well. Here's the synopsis:
The story will pick up where the first one left off: The winter of 2006 five young friends met a brutal death in the Jotunheimen mountain range of Norway. Only a young woman survived. Cold and weak Jannicke struggles her way back to civilization. In the small local hospital the personnel are going through their daily routines. But then the bloody and beaten young woman is brought in. Later Jannicke wakes up in her hospital bed. But the hospital is darkened and not a living soul is in sight. Alone she carefully steps out into the corridors. Is her nightmare not over after all?
A 2008 release is targeted.

Fritt Vilt was a poor movie and they are making a sequel. hahaaa. Damn fools.
I figure they have to up the volume of blood for the sequel as the first was surprisingly lacking in it for a slasher film. But then there you go, find something that is remotely good and follow it up with a sequel that just amps up the kills. Brainless.
