You know, I've never been a fan of Colin Farrell. I mean, he's been okay in a couple things but, perhaps because I'm not a pre-menopausal lady, I've just never understood the big deal. But golly, does he look great in this. In Bruges is the debut feature from Oscar winning short film director Martin McDonagh and it stars Farrell as a hitman forced to go into hiding in Bruges, aka Belgium. The always stellar Brendan Gleeson co-stars as does Ralph Fiennes who - huzzah! - is finally showing off a wickedly dark sense of humor. This one's just been announced as the opening night entry at Sundance 2008 and it's easy to see why. Very, very fun.

Read the script to this - it's great. MArtin McDonagh's an established playwright with only a short film to his directing credits (Six Shooter), but it won an oscar so have got high hopes. Similar in theme and tone to another Gleeson film 'I Went down', also well worth checking out.
Wow that was great! Hillarious stuff. Fiennes was brilliant. He needs to do more comedy.
I agree. Fiennes does need to be involved in more comedies! I particularly love the closing of that trailer. "You don't know karate" hehe
