Judgement day is drawing near for Versus director Ryuhei Kitamura. The man has a long history of dazzling with his visual style while simultaneously frustrating with his poor characters and shoddy attention to detail and story, factors often put down to the meager budgets he typically has to work with and the typical Japanese studio insistence of casting idols rather than actors. Well, Kitamura has never been quiet about his goal of making English language films in Hollywood and his first is rapidly approaching release: an adaptation of Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train. Fans have been waiting for this one from the day it was announced and the first trailer has just arrived at IGN. The verdict? Pretty damn good. The performances look credible, the Kitamura style is in full effect and it looks like they kept an ample supply of blood on hand.
