NOSFERATU Restored With Original Score!

by Todd Brown, October 16, 2007 10:18 PM

Nosferatu pretty much defines classic when it comes to film discussions but would you believe it hasn't been seen as intended for eighty five years now? Yes, the prototypical vampire film has never been available in any format with the original score included - rather a large deal - but that is about to change with the upcoming UK release of Eureka Video's fully restored version of the classic which presents it with the original score intact for the first time ever. The release hits in November and they've got a trailer available now.

I've been meaning to pick this film up since before there was DVD. The reason I didn't has always been cuts, bad quality and other nitpicks. Maybe this will finally be "the one". Even if it isn't, I adore that cover artwork so that might be enough.

Not even in time for Halloween!

No doubt, Caterpillar. That's one of the best bits of cover art I've seen in ages ...

Love that cover. This might be a good chance to update the DVD I already have.

Wow! What a cover illustration, what a restoration! And that 96 page book by David Skal along with all the other assorted extras make this a worthy investment indeed!!!

Sometimes the good people of Eureka MoC just do the flat-out improbable and come up with something like this.
Their "Onibaba" and especially "Kwaidan" are of incredibly high quality, and I'll be sure to pick this up as well. :)

That booklet can be assured to not be made of filler, judging by the two releases I just mentioned. Both contained the source material, comprehensibly explained and interesting to read, worthy companions to the DVD's.
