We've observed writer/director JT Petty's career since his film S&MAN made unnecessary waves on these pages prior to its screenings at TIFF. The response of those who got to see it at the festival though was favorable enough. Petty has recently finished directing The Burrowers, what Variety cites as an original Western horror film and we think whiffs of a popular 80s horror film and one of its subsequent DTV western horror sequels. The Burrowers is in post-production. And Petty is now linked with another project.
Fox Atomic has tapped vidgame scribe JT Petty to write and direct "Goth," which is based on a best-selling Japanese novel by author Otsuichi [which is the pen-name of Hirotaka Adachi/安達 寛高]. Described as a gothic love story, the project revolves around two high school teens from opposite sides of the tracks who are forced to come together to take down a serial killer in their hometown. Kadokawa Shoten, which published the original novel and manga comic, will serve as executive producer on the film.
Follow the jump for an image from the Manga. Nasty stuff.
