While I haven't seen any sort of official announcement on this emailer Mary points out that Johnnie To and Wai Ka Fai's latest collaboration, Mad Detective, is currently slated to screen as part of the AFI Fest in LA and that the print source on the festival website lists IFC Films as the company providing the film to the festival. Which means, of course, that IFC has bought North American rights to the thing. No word on release plans yet but IFC generally gives things at least a small theatrical run before releasing them on DVD.
