Exciting word here on what's next from the mind of Rodrigo Gudiño, the Rue Morgue founder turned film maker. Following his two acclaimed short films - The Eyes of Edward James and Demonology of Desire - Gudiño's has been thinking of making the jump to features but before getting there he wanted to swim one more lap in the short pool, this time in collaboration with animator Vincent Marcone. Here's how Gudiño describes the project:
The short is as yet untitled written by Rodrigo Gudiño and directed by Rodrigo Gudiño and award winning animator Vincent Marcone (www.mypetskeleton.com). The film is a five minute horror short told with a single still photograph set in the 1930s. The film stars Julian Richings (Kingdom Hospital, Hard Core Logo) along with newcomers Lea Lawrynowicz, Alan Alderton and Tony Morrone and contains original music by Johnny Hollow (see JohnnyHollow.com).
As he described it to me the entire film occurs within a single still photograph. As the camera zooms into one area to reveal some specific details other areas of the photo change so that when the camera pulls back things have shifted and altered slightly to push the narrative along. It's a fantastic concept and I'm more than a little curious to see what comes of it.

Sweet, Johnny Hollow!
