My thanks goes to "Selima" for giving me the heads up on a gallery of thirteen stills for Simon Hunter's Mutant Chronicles, a sci-fi actioner we been keeping tabs on since it began production last year. Its been posted up by the folks at Brazil film site Omelete for a couple of months now so it may be old news for some people but I doubt many people out there are aware of this. The cast line-up include Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman, Sean Pertwee, Benno Furmann, Devon Aoki, and John Malkovich. Here's a brief synopsis as taken from producer Edward R. Pressman site.
Mutant Chronicles is based on the popular role-playing game of the same name. In the 23rd Century Earth has been ravaged by mega corporations controlling the planet and mankind is threatened with extinction by a marauding army of NecroMutants. The Chronicles of an ancient Brotherhood foresee a savior, but their hopes are left to a crack squad of mercenaries led by a battle-weary Mitch Hunter.
The film is currently in post-production and is slated for release in 2008.
Wow. Those look really nice. I'm quite excited to see a trailer for this. So far, it looks fantastic.
Reminds me of a dirtier version of Sky Captain, with all those green screen elements. The cast looks stellar, with Jane, whom I've started to like better and better since seeing Stander and finding out that the guy is a big comic book and movie nerd.
You know, "The Punisher" was laughably bad at times but Jane made it worthwhile. Not sure I'll ever feel the need to see it again but he certainly made it enjoyable enough the first time.
