Hey gang. Have you seen D-War and thought to yourself, ‘Damn. I just cannot get enough of that dragon goodness. I hope they come out with a sequel.’
Well thank the movie-making gods, your prayers have been answered. Here’s the skinny.
A sequel to the domestic monster movie 'D-War' appears to be in the works sooner than expected.During a news conference at the Korean Cultural Center in New York, comedian-turned-film director Shim Hyung-rae said he has received a proposal to shoot a sequel very soon, targeting a summer 2009 release date.
Shim said that he is discussing a possible release for "D-War" in Europe and that preparations will begin Thursday for its opening in Japan.
The sci-fi blockbuster about a legendary Korean serpent earned six-point-six million dollars in the U.S. in its second week of release as of last Friday.
Joy!!!

I'd lump it into the "so bad it's good" category. There's a raft of unbelievably cheesy dialog and wan performances. It's essentially a "greatest hits" collection of other giant monster pics, which is a fun idea and really couldn't have turned out much different no matter the circumstances, I don't think.
I say bring it on!
Bets on the title? D2? DW2? E-War (possibly already a Tom Clancy novel)?
E-War! Could have like 20 sequels at this rate. hah.
KuRt.
The only way I'd get excited about this if it was FISH WAR:

Wow. A sequel. At least the sequel can't get much worse.
So, how soon till we see an un-cut, un-rated Korean edition subtitled in Cantonese/Mandarin? Can a sequel to THE HOST be far behind?
