A Full Trailer For Turkish Costume-Epic ULAK

We first spotted upcoming Turkish costume drama Ulak all the way back in April when the very first teaser footage arrived online. Now, that reel was nothing more than a horseman riding through a forest but it was shot with such attention to detail and art design that I couldn't help but sit up and take notice. And now, months later, the film is finally getting close to release and a full trailer has arrived. This one's labeled a teaser and I suppose that's fair since it doesn't seem to spill much in terms of plot but it runs longer than most theatrical trailers so call it whatever you will. What's more important is how it looks and the short answer is pretty fantastic in a pulpy, costume epic sort of way. The Turkish industry is exploding right now with production doubling over the past couple years and this and Musallat look to be the obvious genre hopes to cross international lines in 2008 ...

In the absence of a proper synopsis here's the translation of the text that accompanied the first teaser:

ULAK-The Messenger They were six. One betrayed. Five were left. Five were killed and became nothing. And one day a messenger came from the old times. They were in deeper than the deepest well. Darker than the darkest heart. There was no hope. And one day he came from far with secrets in his bag. Told them the story of love, belief and courage. The believers waited as there was one more (messenger) to come.

Fantastic.
Book me a ticket to wherever it premieres.
I wish there were more grandiose historical type epics from that part of the world & its surrounds.
