A Trailer For Rothemund's PORNORAMA

by Todd Brown, August 18, 2007 8:01 AM

Talk about taking a sharp left with your career. After winning huge international acclaim for his Nazi drama Sophie Scholl Marc Rothemund apparently wanted to do something different. A lot different. So different it's hard to believe this is the same film maker at all, never mind the same film maker just a year or two later. What he has made is Pornorama, a 1970s set sex comedy about an aspiring film maker forced to shoot an educational sex film to help out his older brother. And while this is obviously and very much a sex comedy - the trailer goes full frontal - this is the sex comedy shot like an art film: the cinematography is amazing, the attention to period detail spot on, and the cast looks sterling. I really want to see this and not just for the obvious reasons ...

This looks awesome, in fact this might just be one of the best trailers I've seen this year (hope the film can keep up!). I believe "Mysterien des Orgasmus" is actually a real film, I've got the trailer on one of Mark Verheyen and Jan Doense's "Night of Distaste" DVD's...

And don't forget that when Dutch audiences finally got access to commercial television channels in the Eighties, you'd see a lot of that sort of drivel. And I can fully say they got the look of these spot on!!

Might also make a nice double-bill with Anna Biller's "Viva"...
