Ulrich Mühe, who played a Stasi officer in Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's acclaimed drama "The Lives of Others", died from stomach cancer at his home Sunday at the age of 54. Since starring in the award-winning film, Mühe, who already had a long career in theater, television and film, was inundated with offers for other roles. Addressing his widow, actress Susanne Lothar, German Chancellor Angela Merkel wrote, "Germany mourns an outstanding artist and a great personality." Mühe will be sorely missed.
