Well, glory be! Whatever you may think of Kaz Kiriya's Casshern - the film divides audiences with its convoluted plotline, I love it, many don't - there's no denying the man is simply a visual genius. And, sadly, he's been a silent visual genius ever since Casshern. But no more!
I just went digging around for infomration on the man and found this. Kiriya is currently developing an as-yet untitled alien invasion film with Inhuman scriptwriter Eric Heisserer. The project began as an adaptation of Greg Bear's Forge of God but has apparently strayed so far from the source material that they're considering it an entirely new project at this point. Warner Brothers is ponying up the cash.
More details as we dig 'em up.

Oh wow, the former Mr Utada Hikaru
Oh GOD YES. I adored Casshern and have waited to see something new from the director, I cant wait, I'm guessing this will be a English Language movie.
Having read "Forge Of God" and loved it, I can see that this has been spawn of good stock. I also loved Casshern so I am in my element here :)
Cant wait
One of the most polarizing movies I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to see this in a big cinema (with excellent sound!) during the Rotterdam Film Festival, and we were allowed to rate it. The crowd gave it a three out of five, and based on the conversations in the lobby afterwards this average totally consisted of ones (lowest possible) and fives (highest possible).
I also heard someone quip accurately that this was an opera. I agree.
