Yesterday I posted a little thing about Night of the Comet being released on DVD after being heavily requested on the format by cult movie fans. Well the good news keep coming in because another fan favourite, and one of my all time favourite films, is on its way to our beloved format. That's right Monster Squad is coming! Wheeeee!
Fred Dekker's sophomore feature was a decently budgeted family adventure horror film in the same vein as The Goonies and focuses on a group of horror geeks who must wage battle with the big bat himself, Dracula and his band of merry monsters. The film was co written by Shane Black and Fred Dekker (Black and Dekker. Get it?) and one could describe the film as The Little Rascals meet the Universal Monsters but the Rascals are potty mouthed teens, toting shotguns.
Synapse has apparently acquired the rights to release the film on DVD in April-May this year according to Don May Jr in an interview he did with Deadpit.com. Synapse seems to have been after Dekker's first film, Night of the Creeps as well but rights issues put a stop to that sadly.

That is so freakin awesome. I had debated on buying a boot to tide me over till the official one came out if any came out. This is so awesome. Can't wait!
FUCK YEAH!!!
A small correction: Synapse has NOT acquired the rights. Instead Don May Jr. announced somebody else acquired the rights and is planning on a release.
Thank you. Thank you oh so much. I haven't seen this since I was 4 or 5.
