Yes, it would have made a lovely Xmas present, still will, but you won't be able to rush down and pick it from under the tree on the morning itself. The Korean DVD for 'The Host' is suffering a slight delay until the first week into January 2007 it seems - I've had my email through to confirm this. Remember, it's the case that some sites intentionally differ in their dates from official release dates because they're not Korean-based but internationally-based in different locals and they compensate for getting things into stock by making the dates appear later than they are... so, you will find different dates now, and there's not an ounce of purpose it nit-picking over a day or two, just remember it's now January '07.

Onto Johnnie To's 'Exiled' which is starting to get listings at DVD sites suggesting it makes a slightly earlier than expected pre-Xmas date for its HK DVD release (uncut version pontentially early next week) so that could be a nice bit of viewing into the middle of next week. Again, this may change, isn't official, but it is a spotting that's a suggestion that it's coming sooner than expected - it was said to be arriving in January '07, still may be the case. It's just the potential that has enough to it to get me excited about seeing this one... though I am a late convert to To's more recent work, and I've got 'The Mission' on its way to me now.

Finally, Gervais has done only a couple of different live stand-up shows, both 'Politics' and 'Animals' are out there on R2 UK DVD of course, and now he has set another for Summer next year, entitled 'Fame'. He has also just confirmed he's working on the Third Series of 'Extras' for TV, and his wish-list for guests includes Meryll Streep, Arnie, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke (also in 'Night at the Museum' with Gervais) to name just a few. Series Two was, for me, a hit-and-miss affair, much better usage of the cameos, more of them and done more sparingly for the most part, some were cringe-worthy though. Still, a very good series it is, glad to see it will at least return for a third, and I say, final time. Series One is due very soon on R1 USA DVD - check the Release Calendar here at Twitch for a link to buy it at Amazon.com for example...
