Ivan Boekmans and Guy Lee Thys' Suspect is scheduled to be screened at the World Film Festival (Festival des Films du Monde) - "WFF" for short - in Montréal on Saturday August 26th at 10:00 a.m. (10:00), Sunday August 27th at 9:40 p.m. (21:40), Monday August 28th at 12:20 p.m. (12:20), and Tuesday August 29th at 5:00 p.m. (17:00). Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD) released the movie theatrically in Belgium on November 16th of last year.

As was previously reported here and there on Twitch, the screenplay for Suspect was written by Thys. The movie stars Gene Bervoets as Rob De Koster, Zoë De Roovere as Sandy, Karlijn Sileghem as Nell, Ellen ten Damme as Lydia de Beule, Elias Mentzel as Jimmy, Frank Focketyn as Janssen, Joke Devynck as Conny Haas, Gert Portael as the commissioner, Rudolph Segers as Ben, Karen Van Malderen as Monique, and Fred Van Kuyk as Broeckmans.

Here's a synopsis for Suspect from from the website of international sales agent Cinemavault Releasing International Inc.: "Sandy (Zoe De Roovere) and her mentally-disabled brother Jimmy (Elias Mentzel) live with their mother Nell (Karlijn Sileghem) and their stepfather Rob (Gene Bervoets). Sandy refuses to accept Rob as a father-figure, and when he puts her dog - the only living memory of her natural father - to sleep, Sandy begins to isolate herself even further. ¶ She soon finds comfort with Lydia (Ellen Ten Damme), a former social worker. Not long after their friendship begins, Sandy confides to Lydia about her nightmares, which all allude to sexual elements and centre on her stepfather. Lydia proclaims loudly that Sandy is yet another victim of sexual abuse. ¶ As a result, Rob becomes the subject in a whole series of accusations, and public opinion grows increasingly convinced of his guilt. Suddenly, Rob gets thrust into a public and media circus. But is Sandy really the victim, or is she just a pawn in a series of events gone completely out of control?"

Here's a description of Suspect from the website of Fragma BVBA: "Three years ago, the director-duo's acclaimed and successful tragicomedy 'Kassablanka', shot on video on a shoestring budget, created some serious controversy when its makers were accused of racist anti-Muslim propaganda by self-appointed Muslim leader Abou Jahjah of the Arab European League. All 'Kassablanka' ever propagated was inter-religious nooky as the no.1 integration problem solver. Again, 'Suspect' doesn't shy away from hot current issues. It tells the story of 48-year-old Rob De Koster (Gene Bervoets), whose 15-year-old stepdaughter Sandy (introducing Zoë De Roovere) accuses him of sexual misconduct. Lydia (Ellen ten Damme) - a vindictive lesbian therapist - Conny (Joke Devynck) - an ambitious, hyperactive TV reporter in need of a juicy story - and the overzealous, frustrated judge Janssen (Frank Focketyn) will try their very best to crucify Rob. Nell (Karlijn Sileghem) - Rob's wife for five years, and Sandy's mother - will eventually find out what really happened: No one is totally innocent nor entirely guilty."
