Bishimai Rezu translates as "Beautiful Lesbian Sisters". Given its production company is Xces, one can expect incredibly cheap production values: Xcess manage to make their films on even less money than the standard 3.5million yen pink budget, and I heard they tend to shoot on video then transfer to 35mm for their runs in pink theatres. Its interesting to see the other side of pink cinema however other than the films made by Kokuei, which are the only ones released outside of the West. Kokuei's films are always criticised by hardcore pink fans in Japan as being "too arty" and not enough sex. Xces films however are about as basic as they get, and certainly can't be criticised for not having sex. But overall they're pretty unpretentious.
Well, I for one liked Yamanouchi's modern pinku efforts so far. Benriya kaseifu: kagi no ana kara (2004) and Mofuku furin: kuro-tabi fujin (2005) were both amusing softporn comedies. I certainly prefer them to Yamanouchi's hardcore AV flicks like Joshiryô no kôshoku oyaji: yaneura no nozoki-ana (2005). Still, it'd be time for another gore film, no?
