Oh, wow ... here's a name that I'd all but given up on seeing again. Marc Caro is often the forgotten man when people discuss classic French cult films Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children, his more famous partner Jean-Pierre Jeunet getting all the attention. But everyone agrees that Caro is the man largely responsible for the look of those films - and, to a lesser degree Alien Resurrection - but for some reason while Jeunet has been busy since the duo decided to split Caro has seen his film projects stall out and he has largely returned to the world of commercial direction and art design from whence he came.
But no more.
Screendaily is reporting that Caro is prepping a sci-fi action film titled Dante XXI with backing from the production house behind The Brotherhood of the Wolf. Details are slim so far, with the SD article stating on that it is "Billed by the seller [Wild Bunch] as Cube meets Gattaca, it’s a tale about a convict in space. Tormented by inner demons, he battles to unravel the tangled web of his memory." Dominique Pinon is expected to take a lead role.
To celebrate I present to you this trailer for Delicatessen.
