Mr. Depp will produce an adaptation of A Long Way Down, the new novel by British author Nick Hornby [High Fidelity, About A Boy and Fever Pitch - the Arsenal version].

The plot follows four suicidal people who meet on New Year's Eve and form a surrogate family to help each other through the difficult holiday period.

Depp had this to say about the novel, "This book is brimming with some of the most outstanding characters I've ever had the pleasure of reading. The cinematic possibilities are extraordinary."

Keep an eye out for the novel. It hits shelves in UK shops this week and some time in June on this side of the pond. And if you have not read his other books, shame on you, go and buy them now.
