Movie Web has posted a trio of links to set pictures and spy shots from the Tom Cruise / Steven Speilberg remake of The War of the Worlds. Not surprisingly most of the 'Isn't Tom Cruise dreamy?' variety, which means they're handy if you want to bat your eyelashes and daydream of a Cruise-filled life but considerably less useful if you actually want to see what the sets look like. Follow that link above to check 'em out ...
Something a lot of people don't know is that there is another War of the Worlds film in the works right now, and it's actually farther down the production road than is the Spielberg version. Being financed by a small independent the creators claim that their version is not only the most faithful adaptation of Wells' novel thus far, it is the most faithful film adaptation of any novel ever. A bit of hyperbole there, perhaps. Anyway ... they do have a teaser trailer online to verify that everything is, indeed, being shot in period get up. This looks to be completely untreated footage in need of some post production work - there's not even any music layered on yet - but you can check that trailer out here.

That footage was horrible, and I wouldn't doubt if some people skip over the text and download it, thinking it's footage from the Spielberg/Cruise remake. Don't even bother looking at that footage...it's dreadful.
