I'm trying to get this confirmed, but I just stumbled across something on the official web site for Takashi Miike's IZO that seems to be saying that the Japanese DVD for the film will release on December 22nd. Unless Babelfish is steering me wrong we're looking at both single and double disc editions, but no word yet on subtitles.
If you've not heard of it yet, IZO is Japanese cult director Takashi Miike's time travelling samurai flick co-starring Japanese icon Takeshi Kitano and ultimate fighter (and brother to NFL'er Warren) Bob Sapp. This thing looks like utter madness, but don't take my word for it ... check out the trailer here and the Japan Times review here. If anyone out there can shed some additional light on the DVD situation, we'd appreciate it ...
And while I'm in a DVD news mood, here's something a little less happy. We posted a week or so back that Thai action flick Born to Fight was due to release in Thailand on November 7th ... well, that date has come and gone and there's no sign of it. I wrote the people at EthaiCD and they've confirmed that the release was delayed, though they couldn't say anything about the reason why or what the new date would be. They have promised to let us know when they have more info, though ...

Actually, Bob Sapp has nothing to do with that NFL-player. Bob Sapp once played professional football though. And he is not an "ultimate figher", thats like saying a tennis player is a wimbledonplayer :)
Bob has never participated in the event called "Ultimate fighting", he has fought in Japan though under (more or less) the same kind of rules.

Chances are this won't have subtitles, which is a bummer. I can't remember any Japanese DVD release of a Miike film having English subtitles. The good news is that, if you can wait, it will no doubt get a US release, and probably in England too.

as far as cdjapan as concerned, at this time it looks like no subtitles for IZO.
