Dutch Film Maker Theo Van Gogh Murdered In Amsterdam Park

Film maker Theo van Gogh - the great grandnephew of famed painter Vincent Van Gogh - was shot and stabbed to death in an Amsterdam park on Tuesday. Though not well known outside of his country, he was quite controversial within it having recently received death threats following the airing of a film he made for television harshly criticizing the prevalence of violence against women in Islamic societies. Van Gogh's partner in that film has also received death threats and, though it has not been confirmed as such, it certainly appears that he was killed in response to the film.
