For a very long while, I been anticipating Shim Hyung-Rae's D-War out of the sheer fact that it features an army of dragons and a giant serpent blowing shit up in modern day city of Los Angeles. How freaken cool is that? As the release date approaches, some new content has been added to the official site including a third poster (as shown on the left of this post) and a main trailer which contains plenty of new eye candy footage.
The sci-fi blockbuster will open theatrically in Korea on August 2nd.

Thanks to Hitman over at KFCC for the heads-up.
We'll see about the "blockbuster" part...
This film could do well if they marketed it properly, proper trailers and such. This trailer was much better than the one we saw earlier.
A release date for D-War? Isn't that one of the seven warnings for the end of the world or something?
So will this one be playing in English (like in previous trailers) even in Korea? It'd be nice to catch it in the theaters.
Whether or not the movie is crap, some of these posters are very very cool I have to say.
I'd call this one stellar even.
If I was somwhere between ten and thirteen years old, I'd kill anyone who got in the way of my seeing this movie. However it plays to my cynical, jaded adult mind - lackluster acting, a script that seems highly questionable, some imperfect effects work (alongside some genuinely inspired FX, to be fair) - the child deep within can't help but consider this a must-see. If they can connect with that core audience of pre-to-early-teen boys, this could be surprisingly successful. If Freestyle and Showbox can actually get this onto the 1000-ish US screens they've been yapping about, I will most certainly be there opening day. I can't root against the movie with dinosaurs with freaking lasers and guided missles.
Now that I've finally seen the trailer in a decent resolution, that has to be some of the flattest looking CG work I've seen in ages. They spent how much on that?
Anything between $45 million and $150 million.
It Will Be Awesome!
Mr.Shim makes good movies.
Besides, the poster rocks.
