The site Hoga Central just posted the translation of the Top Japanese Box Office results for 2006, initially published on the Japanese site eiga.com. The results in parenthesis are in billions of yen. For the equivalent in American dollars, US $1 = approx. 119 yen. So, the first foreign film, the latest Harry Potter movie, took in 11 billion yen, or approximately 92,763,893 US dollars. Tales From the Earthsea, the animé by the younger Miyazaki, in first place among Japanese productions at 7.6 billion yen, took in around 64,091,417 US dollars.
