Takashi Miike Bringing Bishonen To The Big Screen

(Posted In Asia Cult Exploitation Film News )

bishonen.jpgDepending on your point of view this is either a combination made in heaven or the vilest pits of hell. Takashi Miike will be directing an adaptation Dan Oniroku's Bishonen. Oniroku is also the writer of Flower and Snake with a notable fixation on S&M. This particular story revolves around a gay relationship. Miike, of course, is simply Miike. Put the two together and I expect nothing less than a film as explicit as is possible under Japanese law while also very, very strange. No casting news yet, but Ryuganji has plenty more details here.

I had no idea Oniroku Dan wrote gay books as well. Not like Miike is a stranger to manlove. This certainly interests me more than all the blockbuster projects he's attched himself to. Bring it!

I agree with you, Caterpillar. Bishonen is one of the most interesting projects Miike is currently working on, in my oppinion. Can't wait to see Taiyo no Kizu, though.
