A Trailer For Ole Christian Madsen's Prag, With Mads Mikkelsen!

Setting aside his bit as the new Bond villain 2006 is going to be yet another great year for Mads Mikkelsen for two reasons: Susanne Bier's After the Wedding and Ole Christian Madsen's Prag. Here's the synopsis:

"Prague" tells the story of Christoffer and his wife Maja, who go to Prague to bring back the remains of his recently deceased father. As Christopher learns more about his father's life, he also tries to improve his relationship with his wife. He feels Maja is slipping away. The question is whether they will ever be able to retrieve their love for one another.

Now, it sounds fairly innocuous, doesn't it? Well, your first clue that there may be something else going on is the presence of Madsen in the director's chair. Madsen's previous film Nordkraft was a searing, if a touch derivative - my review here - piece of work and this is very clearly the work of the same man. Beyond his ability to strip protective layers away from borken relationships Madsen has a very particular gift for fusing verite with highly stylized camera work and somehow making it feel entirely consistent ... the trailer's mighty impressive ...
