Report says Mulan role still undecided...

(Posted In Action Asia Drama Film News Martial Arts )

Katie-Leung.jpgThe other day we reported that singing contest winner Li Yuchun was cast as Mulan in Stanley Tong's version of the Hua Mulan story. Not so, says China Business View. According to them the actress to be likely cast in the role would be Katie Leung, who plays Cho Chang in the "Harry Potter" film[s]. The investment company also favors the Scotland-born Chinese girl because she is better known outside China.

Who? That girl in the Harry Potter movie? Really? Better known outside of China? For one film?!? Really?!? I'm having trouble with this because she has only done ONE film and is filming a second. There is NO indication that she can handle an action scene. And, uhm, OH, the Scottish accent.

Yeah... Just not feeling it, folks.

cho chang...cha chiiiing! Atleast I know Cho Chang as has acting experience (1 scene) compared to Li Yuwho? And I don't think Mulan is required to speak w/a Scottish accent.

Well, to be honest. She has alot more experience than Li Yuchun, so I have no idea what you're complaining about not having experience. Also, accents arn't stuck with you for life. You know Mel Gibson isn't actually Scottish, but he put on the accent for Braveheart, or how Brendan Gleeson put on an American accent for Lake Placid, when he has a really thick Irish one?

Seriously, if it was between those two people, you'd prefer to have some person who can barely sing, let alone act, who's only source of fame was knocking around on some Chinese Pop Idol?

um...Li Yuchun is not pretty...in fact, I think she's pretty...not...good looking...not even better than me, hahaha yeah...I don't like her. Katie Leung as Mulan? sure, I can sort of see that coming...but she looks really girly, and well, Mulan is someone who has to roll in mud...and kill people. so I'm not sure that she can take on the role =)
