'The Wicker Man' Remake Trailer In HD Quicktime or Normal QT at Apple.com.
Terrible! They left out the Morris Dancers!
Burn Hollywood, Burn!
I hated the flashy editing in that trailer! Hopefully there will be none of that in the actual film. There were a few interesting visuals so I dunno, maybe this will be one of those remakes that are wholly unnecessary but still watchable on their own merits? I do think I will treat myself to the UK special edition DVD of the original, the one with the commentary, soon.
Another one of my favorite movies, needlessly (and poorly, from the looks of it) "reimagined." Hmph!
Well, as you say "another one bites the dust".
I can't believe they've Americanised the Wicker Man. The whole thing looks so much dumber than the original.
The only redeeming feature was Angelo Badalamenti's score which sounded kinda cool.
Oh well. Hollywood, eh? Why the hell can't they just re-release a film?
I think this film will suck badly compared to the original for one single reason: the lack of the colorful/hippieish tone and settings. In the original, this gave a very weird and surreal feeling when put into contrast with the actions of the pagans.
this remake instead seems to opt for the more dull and mainstream approach, darkness and spookiness.
at least it doesn't have christopher lee dancing around in a dress!!(hopefuly)
I will take my opinion exclusively from words copied and pasted from elsewhere on this page. Because I can.
Terrible, this film will suck badly! dull and needlessly Hollywood remake bites hippie cock. can't stand watching cage dancing around in a dress! much dumber than the original.
Looks surprisingly not bad, despite what all these crazy people are saying here.
Cut out all those failed attempts at "quirkiness" and go for straight horror, and this should be better than the original. Neil Labute is an amazing director too!
I think it looks pretty good, and true to the original. Lets not lift the original up on a pedistal or anything... But I'm sure Neil Labute has some tricks up his sleeves, if his track record means anything. And if purists need reassuring, Anthony Shaffer who wrote both the original novel and screenplay, wrote this screenplay as well.
I just can't wait to see Cage cook... hehehe.
The original wasn't all that great, so my normal hesitance towards remakes doesn't apply here. Looks like it'll at least be as good as the original, with the potential to be much better.
"The original wasn't all that great" - Them's Fighting Words. I love every frame of that damn film, Corn Rigs and all.
I'm torn between my love of LaBute (who has a nice trifecta of films with In the Company of Men, Your Friends & Neighbors, Nurse Betty) and my refusal to accept they would even try to remake this film.
The trailer looks positively awful though.
Eh, the original really isn't that great. It's good, but come on, it isn't the holy grail.
I'm sorry, but the original really is great, unarguably so. You can say that you don't like it, that's absolutely fine, but it is a work of cinema which should be respected at least. This remake is absurdly insulting, and losing the unsettling oddness of the original to go with a straight horror is... Ridiculously stupid. All of the horror in the Wickerman is in the ending, which still chills me every time I watch it.
Anyway, all together now, "Corn riggs and barley riggs, corn riggs are bonny!"
Stop Hollywood.
Just stop
Speak for yourself Mathew. I'm not alone.
And I do respect the original, which is why I own the frigg'n wooden limited edition.
The Wickerman (1973) is one of the 3 or 4 greatest films of all time. It is utter blasphemy to remake this film! Especially since it casts bumbling (and not even British) fools like Cage. How in God's name could this happen? I FOR ONE WILL DIE BEFORE SEEING THE REMAKE!!!
