Mark Savage's DEFENCELESS: A BLOOD SYMPHONY, w/ Susanne Hausschmid, Bethany Fisher, Karen Walsh, Anthony Thorne, Mitchell Turner, George Gladstone, Colin Savage, and Richard Wolstencroft

The completed version of Mark Savage's Defenceless: A Blood Symphony is scheduled to have its world première at the (Yet) Another Hole in the Head film festival in San Francisco on Saturday June 10th at 11:30 p.m., and to subsequently be screened there on Monday June 12th at 2:30 p.m.. (Thanks to Fangoria for this information.) The movie was screened as a work in progress at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) on July 18, 2004. Some time that year, Savage kindly e-mailed me a large JPEG of a poster for it (see the bottom of this article).

The screenplay for Defenceless: A Blood Symphony was written by Savage. The movie stars Susanne Hausschmid, Bethany Fisher, Karen Walsh, Anthony Thorne, Mitchell Turner, George Gladstone, Colin Savage, and Richard Wolstencroft.

Here's a description of Defenceless: A Blood Symphony from the MUFF website: "This is Mark's most raw and shocking feature, more reminiscent of his early Super-8 work and is a real contribution to Australian underground cinema. In "Defenceless", vengeance springs from a watery grave after the life of an environmental campaigner is destroyed. Beauty rides shotgun with brutality in a stark portrait of bloody retribution that, ultimately, celebrates the awesome power of a woman who is never more than a lady (well perhaps a zombie) and never less than a terrifying force of nature. A grotesque examination of a love that conquers death and emotional bonds no knife can cut, this is strong, uncompromising horror with no concessions made for the weak of stomach and NO DIALOGUE.
