Contrary to the news as reported from Digital Bits that the DVD will be release "end of the year", quoted by Sony's DVD head of marketing, Mike Stratford, fans of Final Fantasy can rest assured that the DVD will be release sooner than expected.
According to DVD active, the two set disc special edition is set for release in the U.S. on April 25, 2006 at a price of around $26.96. The special features include Reminiscence of Final Fantasy VII featurette, a making of featurette entitled 'The Distance', some Venice Film Festival footage, deleted scenes, a sneak peak at upcoming Final Fantasy VII games (i.e. Dirge of Cerberus), trailers, and more. It will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with the original Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 track and with optional English subtitles.
For the dubbing, Sony has built a interesting voice cast with a few recognizable actress/actors. Some of the voice casts include Rachael Leigh Cook for Tifa and Mena Suvari, best known as the "jailbait" girl from American Pie for Aerith Gainsborough. Steve Burton who did the voice for Cloud in Kingdom Hearts will reprise his role as Cloud again in this film. Full lists for the English voice cast is available at 1up.com.
EDIT: The official Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children website has been updated and they confirm the release date. So now its official, the release date WILL BE on April 25th.
