Bubba Nosferatu a Go?

There have been rumblings pretty much from the day Bubba Ho Tep hit the scene that director Don Coscarelli, writer Joe Lansdale and actor Bruce Campbell were working up plans for a Bubba prequel. Bubba Nosferatu would cast Campbell as a young Elvis battling a New Orleans vampire while shooting one of his many bad films in that city. But as much as they've all said that they want to do Nosferatu Coscarelli has never confirmed that they actually will, stating only that it depends on financing.

This, then, is an interesting thing ... in a recent Fangoria article detailing directors for the coming second season - Eli Roth, Guillermo Del Toro, Rob Zombie and author Joe Lansdale are all on the short list - Coscarelli stated that he would be happy to join "the second season of MASTERS OF HORROR as long as the planned sequel BUBBA NOSFERATU doesnt get in the way. The goal is to have more of the young Elvis because Bruce Campbell loves playing that age with his Memphis Mafia and NOSFERATU will provide lots of opportunities for them getting into mischief. And theres nothing better than seeing a legendary actor play with a prosthetic!"

Now, this still isn't a firm confirmation that Nosferatu is happening but if Coscarelli is talking about turning down a guaranteed paying job to leave his schedule free then in my book he's pretty much tipped his hand. Nosferatu is coming, and it's shooting in 2006.
