Sergei Bodrov's Mongol: The Early Years of Genghis Khan should be out some time in 2006. Logboy spotted a link to some images from the film over at the KFCC Forums with one of our favorite Japanese actors Tadanobu Asano. Asano replaced Channing Tatum back last spring to play the title role.
The Moscow Times via KFCC Forum"We'll see what happens, but we're hoping for the best," said the 56-year-old filmmaker, who has directed critically acclaimed films such as the 1996 Chechen war drama "The Prisoner of the Mountains" (Kavkazsky Plennik). "It's no coincidence that we invited people into our team who participated in the creation of 'Crouching Tiger' and 'Hero'... I am what you would call a storyteller," Bodrov said. "And in this case we've found an extraordinary story. ... It's a story about love, about Genghis Khan, about a boy who was an orphan and then went on to conquer half the world, more than Alexander and all the other conquerors... In Russia, some people are already convinced that we've fallen in love with Genghis Khan and his empire," Bodrov joked.
