'Westworld' remake back on drawing board

(Posted In Action Film News Sci-Fi / Fantasy USA and Canada )

westworld.jpgI can't remember why I liked Westworld when I saw it as a kid. Perhaps I thought Yul Brynner was the king of cool and his cowboy robot run amuck scared the pants off of me. Or perhaps it was the robots made for sex. I don't know. I was young and full of hormones.

Producer Jerry Weintraub [Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve but don't fool yourself, he's also producing another Police Academy as well] wants to go ahead with the remake of the sci-fi/fantasy classic, despite earlier plans to make the movie and cast Arnold Schwarzenegger in it were scrapped when he became Governer of California. Tarsem Singh, director of The Cell, is attached to direct. No word yet if the original author/director, Michael Crichton [The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park and other stuff that was crap], is attached to the project.
