Korean News in Brief: August 10 [Bouncer, Lovers in Prague, Dongmakgol, Can I Cry?]

masterjung.jpgThe best action director in Korea, Jung Doo-Hong, will finally get his chance in Hollywood. He will debut as a director next year, with the action film 'Bouncer', one of the first attempts by CJ Entertainment to enter the American "B-Movie" market. The entire film will be shot on location in the US, and star Chinese-American actor Jason Lee. whose last short film sold rights to 16 countries at the Cannes Film Market. The film is produced by LJ Film's Lee Seung-Jae.

3 years after '별을 쏘다' ('Shooting Stars'), Jeon Do-Yeon will return to the small screen with '프라하의 연인' (Lovers in Prague'), the follow up to the smash hit of last year, '파리의 연인' ('Lovers in Paris') which starred Kim Jung-Eun and Park Shin-Yang. Jeon will play the President's daughter, Kim Joo-Hyeok her love interest.
The TV Drama started shooting in August, and is the second of a three part "Lovers in Europe" series.

'웰컴 투 동막골' ('Welcome To Dongmakgol') is following on 'Lady Vengeance's steps, recording its 2 million sales mark in only 7 days. The immense amount of good word of mouth is making some people in the industry believe the film will have a long, long stay in theaters. And maybe become the third film in history to reach that incredible 10 million barrier, although that looks like a bold statement.

Debuting in Park Chan-Wook's '올드보이' ('Oldboy'), Yoon Jin-Seo will finally get her chance to be the lead, in the melodrama '울어도 좋습니까?' ('Can I Cry?'). Her partner in the film, Kim Dong-Yoon of '두근두근 체인지' ('Pounding Change'), the hilarious Sitcom. The film will start shooting in September.

According to the Yonhap News article, the title is BOUNCER, not Bounce. And the Cannes selling to 16 countries is in reference to star Jason Lee's previous short film which he directed/starred in.

Ah, yes. The Silent Man. Loved his choreography in No Blood, No Tears. I'm interested in seeing this. When you say Jason Lee, do you mean Jason Scott Lee?
